HVAC Website Must-Haves: The 9-Point Checklist for 2026
Most HVAC websites are not bad on purpose. They just quietly fail one or two of the things that actually turn a visitor into a booked call, and the owner never knows because it looks fine on his own screen. So here is a straight checklist. Nine things your HVAC website needs in 2026. Go down the list with your own site open on your phone and check each one honestly.
- 1. A tap-to-call number in the top corner. Visible before anyone scrolls, and tappable on a phone. A homeowner with a dead system should be able to call you in one thumb tap.
- 2. It loads in under three seconds. Slow sites lose calls before the page even appears. Usually it is huge photos or cheap hosting. Speed is the single biggest silent killer.
- 3. It works cleanly on a phone. More than half of "AC repair near me" searches are mobile. No pinch, no zoom, no tiny buttons.
- 4. It is secure (HTTPS). The address should start with https and show no "Not Secure" warning. That warning scares people off and hurts your ranking.
- 5. Your town is named on the homepage. "Serving [your town] and nearby" tells both Google and the homeowner they are in the right place.
- 6. Your Google reviews are visible up top. Star rating and a couple of real reviews, near the top, not buried on a separate page. Your reviews are your best salesperson.
- 7. A dedicated page for each core service. AC repair, furnace install, maintenance. One homepage cannot rank for all of them.
- 8. Real photos of your trucks, team, and jobs. Not the stock photo of a model holding a wrench. Real photos build trust; stock quietly says "generic."
- 9. One obvious next step, repeated. Call now or book online, clear and repeated as you scroll. Not five choices and a buried contact form.
Bonus, and honestly close to a tenth must-have: a few plain trust signals near your call button. Licensed, insured, upfront pricing, financing available, satisfaction guaranteed. They remove the last hesitation before someone dials.

If your site missed even two or three of these, that is almost certainly costing you calls you never see. The fixes are usually straightforward, and most cost nothing but an afternoon. If you would rather not think about any of it, that is the whole reason I do what I do.
